Assignment # 1 (with class)
Zentangle #1 The art of Zentangle was created by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts. One day Maria was playing around and wanted to feel Zen so she played around with some patterns, and Rick said that was her 'meditating', therefore creating the Zentangle. Zentagle was created for people to relax and feel Zen, something that anyone could do with a simple square sheet of paper and let his/ her mind flow and be creative. Given a square sheet of paper, draw four dots at each corner of the paper. Then he/she can draw lines creating four random spaces for he/ she to draw patterns. This Zentangle was made in class, directed by the Upper School Art teacher. |
Assignment # 2 (at home)
Zentangle #2 The Zentangle shown above was inspired by the different elements of art. The ones chosen include: line, value, and shape. The top section of the Zentangle was inspired by lightening strikes then in between 'rain' was included. The triangle section on the left was inspired by shoes laces, and how when tied overlap each other on the shoe. The triangle on the right was inspired by bread, because bread comes in all sorts of tastes, sizes, and textures, so I used the square. The triangle on the bottom was inspired by droplets of water, when it rains on a still car the water droplets sit on the car and group together. Rain makes me very relaxed and makes me want to lay around the house and be relaxed. |
Assignment #4
Modified Contour Drawing of Pinecone Assignment #?
"Gyotaku" is the ancient Japanese folk art of painting fish. The first Gyotaku were created to preserve the true record and size of species caught by Japanese anglers as far back as 1862. For this project I used cool colors and secondary colors. I chose the blues, purples, and greens. I chose this color scheme not only because those are my favorite colors but because when a fish is in water and is blue they are almost invisible. I have always found that intriguing. Blues and purples make me happy and they are relaxing colors. When making the print, I was given a fish model and used extra water color and painted the colors of my choice on the fish, making sure the paint wasn't to wet. After I finished applying the colors of my choice I set a piece of paper on the fish and pressed down gently. When completed I let it dry over night then the next day used water color pencils and Prisma colored pencils to add more to the fish. Then, on a glass top, I used rice paste and + on the picture then put a piece of special paper pressing down on the original sheet. Then taking the rice paste and brush I brushed it on all sides, then put the work on a board and let it dry over night. The next day I cut it down with a knife and then stamped my chop on it. This project was very self directed, and I feel it helped me more in that region, this project was awesome and helped me in my art skills. Assignment #5

The ECU Art Department Field Trip The art trip was very fun, I loved seeing college students being in love with art as much as I am. I thought that how they had the MANY different classes someone could take was very interested. I thought that the ernes for pottery outside the fire, the salt, and then the many different sizes of any regular erne. The students there were very nice and welcoming. I loved the wood workshop where the two men had the scanners, lasers, and how one of the lasers made a 3-D object. |
